(ေအာက္မွာျမန္မာလိုပါေသးတယ္ေနာ္) At the end of the day it all ends up in a pile, a sack, a basket and gets transported away to landfill. I have to say the streets are impressively clean in the downtown area; the official and unofficial waste collectors do a good job. But the sad thing is that so littleContinue reading “All in a pile.”

At the end of the day.
(ေအာက္မွာျမန္မာလိုပါေသးတယ္ေနာ္) Behind the scenes. Yangon is a big city, the markets are huge, and every day great loads of produce come in from the surrounding countryside. By evening, there are waste piles by every stall. Mixed organic and non-organic, all headed for landfill. Continue reading “At the end of the day.”

Setting up shop
(ေအာက္မွာျမန္မာလိုပါေသးတယ္ေနာ္ ) Setting up shop here doesn’t seem to be so be so hard. A cloth on the ground and a truckload of veggies brought in from the farm. But there’s a lot of competition, these markets in Yangon are big! And at the end of the day there’s a neat pile of waste byContinue reading “Setting up shop”
Fish for dinner!
(ေအာက္မွာျမန္မာလိုပါေသးတယ္ေနာ္ ) Some scenes from the Yangon markets. They’re hot and noisy and full of people buying, selling, talking, shouting, laughing and working hard. Turn the sound on! (And yes! We would like to make bokashi from the fish scraps😉) /Jenny
FarmBiz: creating chemical-free farms
(ေအာက္မွာျမန္မာလိုပါေသးတယ္ေနာ္) Here at FarmBiz in the leafier suburbs of Yangon there’s an urban farm. Villas on all sides and nothing the least rural about the landscape. It’s actually a very cool place because it’s so unexpected. Everything here is chemical free.
