Two back alleys opposite one another. One clean and green, the other a rat-infested dump. Here in Yangon, they’re nearly all of the depressing variety. But the good news is some of them are being cleaned up, bit by bit, largely due to the great work done by the Doh Eain organisation. But don’t thinkContinue reading “Dump to playground”

Back alleys with Doh Eain
Back to our back alley, and the project with Doh Eain. Clean and shiny and soon to become a backyard oasis for residents. Emily here, the woman behind it all, with one of her colleagues, and Diana and Inda from our team. So looking forward to working with these guys when we start up forContinue reading “Back alleys with Doh Eain”
Testing bokashi buckets
Meet the lovely Aye! We’re testing different types of airtight buckets for doing kitchen bokashi, this is our latest candidate. Farm. Food. Beer.
We had the pleasure of joining these guys last night, starting at the farm and moving on to a collective meal and beer tasting. The evening was also a bit of a fundraiser for the farm, great to see there’s so much interest in what’s happening at Kokkoya. We need more people like you! /JennyContinue reading “Farm. Food. Beer.”
Recycled plastic with Chu Chu

This is their latest design, nexr time we go to visit them I really want to buy a few of these bags. They’re based on the other side ofContinue reading “Recycled plastic with Chu Chu”
Doh Eain, making alleys great again
Downtown Yangon has all these back alleys, sort of like a common back yard for residents. Normally they look pretty disgusting: rubbish, mould, bad sewerage, and drainage that doesn’t cope with monsoon. This is a shiny, clean alley! Complete with kids and dogs. This fabulous organisation Doh Eain here in Yangon has taken a gripContinue reading “Doh Eain, making alleys great again”
