Dear friends and supporters,
We are thrilled to share with you the incredible journey we embarked on just a few days ago, on June 12th, 2023. Our mission was to bring hope and assistance to the 400 families residing in one of the most devastated squatters areas in Yangon, Myanmar. We organized a rice donation drive, which turned out to be a momentous occasion filled with joy, resilience, and compassion.
To begin, we meticulously compiled a list of families in need, ensuring that no one was left out. Each family received a special coupon-like paper card, serving as a token for the following day’s rice distribution. With great anticipation, we visited a trusted rice dealer to arrange the packaging of 27-pound bags of rice, one for each family. The rice bags were then transported to the designated location, where they awaited distribution day.
On the day of the distribution, nature tested our resolve as heavy rain poured from the sky. However, the downpour couldn’t dampen our spirits nor the spirits of the families we aimed to support. Braving the rain, each family arrived, their faces adorned with radiant smiles and hearts brimming with gratitude. Together, we formed a community united by compassion and love.
It was a sight to behold—the energy and positivity in the air were simply ecstatic. We captured the essence of this extraordinary day in a short video, which we are excited to share with you. Despite the rain, the atmosphere was filled with warmth, respect, and genuine affection.
This rice distribution marks our 28th consecutive month of reaching out to those in need since the troubling events following the coup in Myanmar. We are incredibly humbled and grateful for the unwavering support we have received from our kind-hearted friends and organizations worldwide. We extend our deepest appreciation, particularly to our friends in Switzerland, who have been instrumental in funding our efforts. Without their generosity and the contributions of many others, none of this would have been possible.
